Research
We at PHDA design and conduct a broad spectrum of health research for the benefit of people in africa region. PHDA team has pioneered research in the areas of HIV and STI, generating and using evidence to develop effective programmes and policies. Some of the ground-breaking work conducted by the PHDA, University of Manitoba, and its partners has had a lasting impact on programme and policy in Kenya and other African countries since its inception.
Programme Development & Delivery
For over three decades, PHDA and its partner, the University of Manitoba, have designed and implemented impactful programs across Kenya and other African countries. The team was among the first to initiate HIV prevention and treatment programme for sex workers in Kenya, laying the groundwork for evidence-based Key Population programming. Initiatives by PHDA, UoM, and partners have shaped health policies and program design at national and county levels.
Partnerships and collaboration
PHDA collaborates with a range of organizations to implement its programmes effectively. These partnerships have had a significant impact on our work, enhancing the quality and reach of our research, improving programme delivery, and influencing health policy development. Through strong, strategic collaborations, PHDA leverages shared expertise and resources to lead meaningful outcomes in public health, ultimately improving lives.
System strengthening
PHDA focuses on strengthening health systems, particularly within government, to sustain progress in the HIV response. In partnership with the Ministry of Health, NSDCC, NASCOP, and county governments, we provide technical support, policy guidance, and capacity-building. These efforts enhance institutional capacity and promote lasting impact in our focus areas, contributing to more resilient, effective, and sustainable health systems across Kenya and the wider region.
