{"id":4972,"date":"2025-07-01T10:29:03","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T10:29:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/articloo.com\/wordpress\/?p=4972"},"modified":"2025-07-01T10:29:36","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T10:29:36","slug":"phda-leads-ground-breaking-study-to-reframe-stbbi-thro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/articloo.com\/wordpress\/phda-leads-ground-breaking-study-to-reframe-stbbi-thro\/","title":{"rendered":"PHDA Leads Ground breaking study to reframe STBBI through the lens of place"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"4972\" class=\"elementor elementor-4972\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-185cc8a e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"185cc8a\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ba341bd elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ba341bd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u00a0Partners for Health and Development in Africa (PHDA), in collaboration\u00a0with the Institute for Global Public Health (University of Manitoba),\u00a0Nairobi County, and the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council\u00a0(NSDCC), has launched a transformative research initiative to reimagine\u00a0sexually transmitted and bloodborne infection (STBBI) prevention in\u00a0Kenya.<\/p><p><br \/>Using a Program Science approach, the project prioritizes \u201cplace\u201d as a\u00a0critical lens\u2014examining how physical, social, and organizational\u00a0environments influence HIV and STBBI risk among adolescent girls and\u00a0young women (AGYW), young women who sell sex (YWSS), female sex\u00a0workers (FSW), and men across Nairobi County.<\/p><p><br \/>The study employs a robust methodology programmatic mapping, peer\u00a0led ethnography, and integrated bio-behavioural surveys to uncover the\u00a0ecologies of risk and safety within more than 2,000 identified sex work\u00a0locations. By identifying the geographic and social contours of\u00a0vulnerability, the research aims to expose significant gaps in service\u00a0access, particularly among AGYW, and to develop location-specific, high\u00a0impact interventions.
